Stamp Project

For this project I made a stamp of a deceased historical figure of my choosing, I chose to focus on Theodor Seuss Geisel known as Dr. Seuss. I chose Dr. Seuss because he was very influential to me in particular. The first book that I learned to read on my own was his “Green Eggs & Ham”. That book taught me how to read and it taught me to try new things because I might like it in the end. I take this message of trying new things and experimenting into my artwork. He has a lot of fun characters that represent different kinds of people in real life.

The first stamp I placed Dr. Seuss’s face in the corner. For the background I placed actual backgrounds from his books. I put his face in his world so that he can have the opportunity to experience his world just like his readers have gotten to know.

The second stamp I placed 3 faded copies of the Cat in the Hat in back. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are jumping in front of them to steal the attention. The true focus is of this stamp is up to you, but just remember that Thing 1 and Thing 2 are trying to steal your attention.

The third stamp I chose to focus on the quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” said by Dr. Seuss. I used characters of his that really stood out. For example, an elephant stands out because of its size.
