Wire Sculpture: Shattered

The inspiration behind my work was the word “shattered”. My project was organically abstract. I tried to make a sphere, but it looked more organic than geometric by the time it was completed. I utilized the positive and negative space for my project by forming shapes and being able to see through the wire and those negative spaces formed other variety of shapes and lines. I feel that if the audience had to guess my connotative word, they would have a hard time guessing what it was. If my audience was told my connotative word and asked if they thought the word made sense, I believe that the audience would agree with the word that I chose and the connection it has to the piece itself and how they correlate to each other. If I was given more time with the project and I had more energy towards the end, I believe I might have kept going and adding more wire to the structure. I believe that the project works well with what I submitted because it looks shattered and broken and as if it was "smushed" or stepped on. Some pieces might be missing but this works well with the piece. I feel that this project almost completely succeeds because the original sketch and how it turned out was how I had pictured it would be in the end. I believe the sketch and the final product are almost identical in this way. I believe that wire was immensely difficult to work with but in the end, I am satisfied with what I have created.
